More than 20% of internet users admit to clicking the “report as spam” button and sending messages that may not technically qualify as spam directly to the junk folder.

Almost 40% of email users admit that they click on the “report as spam” button either “often” or “very often”. Over 25% of users say that they use the “report to spam” option as a way of unsubscribing to marketing emails that they no longer wish to receive.

Email service providers like Gmail, AOL and Yahoo all use the percentage of customers who use the “report to spam” option for a certain sender as a primary method of determining to deliver incoming messages to the inbox or the junk mail folder.

So, what is spam to you? Chances are that your definition is slightly different from the next guy’s and both of your opinions may be different from what the law defines as spam. It is extremely important that you are fully aware of the law as it applies to email marketing and spam. It is equally important that you are aware of what your prospects and customers may consider as spam.

A recent study found that 50% of email subscribers receive emails from marketers with whom they are familiar too often and therefore classify such messages as spam. In addition, 56% of people surveyed said that they automatically send email marketing newsletters to the junk folder if they do not find them personally interesting.

This is why it is vital to stay on top of your email marketing campaigns to ensure that all of the content that you send is fresh, relevant and interesting to the people on your subscriber lists.

For more information on spam and effective emailing, please visit http://waystogetnoticed.com/2008/10/13/email-marketing-is-not-spamming-for-a-good-cause/

In a recent survey, email marketers were questioned about marketing emails and the content that they include. Close to 60% of those asked claimed that email advertising messages that featured content that is unique routinely generates sufficient results.

Over 60% of online business owners believe that targeting email campaigns that contain the ideal combination of content and graphics is the most effective way of advertising their business. More than 20% of customers admit that they are more likely to open a message and make a purchase from permission based email marketing that features something in which they are particularly interested. However, more than 50% of customers surveyed say the email they receive is irrelevant.

It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words, in the same respect the right email copywriting could potentially be worth a thousand dollars, or more. The words that you choose to include in the emails that you send out as part of your business email marketing campaign will have a significant impact on the type of results you see. This is the reason that professional copywriters are constantly searching for the best words to get readers to make a purchase.

If you want to make sure that the content that you feature in your online email marketing campaign is fresh and interesting to your target audience, you may wish to enlist the services of a professional copywriter.

Professional copywriters have specific skills and can compose email newsletters and marketing messages that are tailored to your specific clients and prospects in the right mindset that will inform the customer that your business understands the challenges that they face and your service or product is exactly what they need.

The subject line is one of, if not the most important part of your marketing emails. The subject line that you use for your email advertising has the power to either make or break your email campaign.

Close to 70% of Internet users recently interviewed admitted to clicking on the “send to spam” button based on what they read in the email subject line. Likewise, 35% of email users say that they decide to open an email message because the subject line peaked their interest.

With the holiday season right around the corner, it is time for all business owners and executives to make sure that they have their holiday email marketing plan firmly in place and ready to launch. It is important to have you plan ready ahead of time before the holidays ever arrive because it is hard to find planning time during the days of the holiday season. It is in the best interest of you and your business to begin thinking as soon as possible about the way you want to use email marketing campaigns throughout the season.

Holiday email marketing programs are a great way to keep in touch with all of the clients, customers, prospects and affiliates on your business mailing list all season long. The holiday season is the perfect time to get creative with your email marketing plan.

Close to 64% of merchants feel that the ideal combination of content and graphics will attract a great deal of customers to their business. However, only 50% of email marketers create email newsletters during the holiday season that appropriately take advantage of the opportunity to keep the cash flow strong during this time of year.

By having a plan and creating your schedule for your holiday email marketing campaign by November of each year, you will be able to focus your attention on the needs of your customers throughout the busiest season of the whole year without having to worry about the relevance of your email marketing strategy.

If you would like to learn more about effective emailing all year long, visit http://waystogetnoticed.com/category/effective-emailing

If you are anything like the rest of us red-blooded human beings, then you are more than likely always in search of the best deal possible. It does not make a difference if you are in the market for a new vehicle, a new home or simply grocery shopping, you are always drawn to the special deals and discounts that the various companies are willing to offer you. It is no different when it comes to email marketing. Open source email marketing tools are helpful especially if you are just starting to get your feet wet in a business making money online.

Open source email marketing tools are not intended for the novice user. Even though many of them are easy to install, you must still have a grasp on the technology skills that are involved in using marketing tools such as these. There are some well-known hosting panels such as Fantastico and cPanel that already have these tools pre-installed and ready for you to use.

Close to 25% of users on the Internet that were interviewed in a recent study, say that they check their email as soon as they wake up in the morning and more than 30% check their email inbox all throughout the day. Seven out of ten people questioned say that they check their personal email more than three times a day, even when at work. These are just a few reasons why it is so important to use the right tools for your business email marketing campaign.

An astonishing 60% of online businesses are not in good practice of sending a welcome letter to each person that joins their email list. Close to one third of businesses fail to send any kind of email to new members on their subscriber lists within the first thirty days. In addition, 75% of businesses that collect information besides just email addresses when customers sign up for their opt in email service fail to use such information to customize and personalize their marketing emails and welcome letters. Just over 70% of businesses interviewed in a recent study said that they make an effort to send welcome letters to new customers to confirm registration.

The welcome letter that you send to new subscribers on your business mailing list for your targeting email campaigns, may very well have a better chance of being read than any other marketing emails that you send. Studies indicate that welcome letters have a substantially higher opening rate than usual emails. Therefore, confirming that email advertising is one of the best forms of marketing as long as you do it correctly.

In a recent experiment, an email marketing firm signed up for a series of email lists to see how many of the companies would send a welcome letter and take full advantage of the all important first email. Surprisingly, within three days they had only received welcome letters from 55% of the companies at which they registered. Of that 55%, only 36% featured content that extended to include information other than a simple welcome to the program. That means that 45% of these companies totally missed a vital marketing opportunity and 64% of those who took some initial action failed to use the opportunity to its fullest potential.

If you are interested in learning more ways to take full advantage of every email marketing opportunity that is at your disposal, please visit http://waystogetnoticed.com/2008/09/06/profiting-through-email-marketing-lists/

If you are like the rest of the free country, you are not a huge fan of receiving email marketing articles for which you have not made a request.

These emails are generally advertisements that we often choose to ignore under the impression that it is a one-time occurrence and we will not be bothered by it again in the future. However, 40% of email users say that they receive marketing emails too often. Studies indicate that more than 20% of Internet users admit to using their “send to spam” button, even if the marketing email that they receive is not quite spam. Almost 40% on Internet users claim that they use their “send to spam” option on a regular basis.

Then, after receiving the email repeatedly, we begin to wonder if we are the victim of some sort of a hoax and visit the website featured in the advertisement. Often these websites appear legitimate and we email the administrator asking to be removed from any opt in email subscriber lists. Too many times, these opt out requests are bounced directly back to us. This is not good, nor legal for that matter.

According to a recent survey, 30% of the email marketers interviewed admitted that they continue to send messages to customers even after they have requested to opt out of their email marketing program.

By obtaining your customers permission and using your email marketing campaign responsibly, you are doing your part in keeping your clients’ inboxes from becoming a haven for junk mail and instead a place where they will find relevant and valuable information through your email newsletters.
